6 Information Your Wedding Invitation Cards Must Contain

Jolly good, you've finally settled on a wedding date. Now you need to tell your potential guests about it and formally invite them.

It is time to write the text the expert needs to design your wedding invitation.

But you wonder;

"What should I include in my wedding invitation?"

Wonder no more here's a list of 6 information you must include in your wedding invitation card.

1. Names of the Hosts

Wedding invitation cards usually open with a line that records the names of the hosts. This may be your parents, family name or you yourselves - the imminent couple.

Traditionally, hosts pay for an event. Therefore, if your parents pay for your wedding, they are automatically the hosts.

There are some tribes where it is culture for parents to sponsor their children's wedding(s). Therefore, the parents in these tribes are the hosts whether they paid or not.

After the name of the host is recorded, a request follows. Therefore, a wedding invitational line reads like this;

"Chief and Madam Abe request the pleasure of your company in the marriage of ..."

"The Ebinpejo and Simpson's family request the honour of your presence to celebrate the marriage ..."

2. The Couple's Names

You'll need to include the names of the people getting hitched in the wedding invitation card. Out of respect for our women, her name should come first (don't argue bro;)).

You can add your first and middle names, first and last names or your full legal names (first, middle and last).

However, when you mentioned your parents' names as inviters in the invitation line you can use your first and middle names instead of full names.

3. Date and Time of Ceremony

People need to know the wedding date. Thanks to the save-the-date cards you must have sent beforehand, they probably have blocked off the date on the schedules.

In addition to the date, the time is just as important. Remember that friend who always comes? Yes, hit him with a;

"Guests should be seated at ..."

Be sure to state the hour and time of the day in a.m. or p.m. to avoid confusion. For formal occasions, try writing out the time in letters rather than numbers (e.g nine o'clock in the morning).

4. Location Of The Event

Regardless of whether the religious service and reception are to occur at the same or different venues, you need to include the locations in your wedding invitation.

If you do this, your visitors know precisely where they're going and what time the reception starts.

if both service and reception occur at the same place, you need to indicate this in your invitation with the old;

"RECEPTION TO FOLLOW"

However, if the events occur at separate venues, you should include separate addresses and time.

5. Dress Code

Here's where you add those odd colours to identify your people;

Bride: Maggi Yellow with a touch of Ojuelegba blue

Groom: Cockroach Brown with Fufu White

Friends: Coconut White with Agama Lizard Head Red

Other guests: Pomo Brown on Alligator Pepper Green with a touch of Onion Purple

How sweet?

Jokes apart, you need to include what you expect people to wear according to their affiliation. This helps the photographer to match the wedding photo schedule and eases some of your planner's headache.

6. Direction

Imagine how rowdy the occasion will be if attendees have to pick calls to direct others. No, not just calls, how about people moving around to pick up their co-guest.

You can avoid this with a precise address on your wedding invitation card. Do more, go to the venue yourself and take note of landmarks and weird objects you can use to direct people.

"A two-storey building painted bright yellow ..."

"There is a circle of palm trees right in front of the church ..."

"The street is quite close to the popular ABC Stadium ..."

Write your direction to include conspicuous details your guest can visualize.
